How do you tell the difference between intuition and anxiety?

Intuition feels like knowing; anxiety feels like fear looking for an object. When you sit with intuition, it tends to deepen and settle. When you sit with anxiety, it escalates.
A useful test: close your eyes and ask yourself a question. Notice the very first response — before your analytical mind can intervene. That first response, however faint, is usually closer to your intuition than anything that follows.
Practices to develop your intuition
1. Daily stillness. Even ten minutes of meditation creates the conditions for intuitive signal to surface. You do not need to meditate perfectly — you just need to stop moving long enough to hear what is already there.
2. Body awareness. Your body processes information before your mind does. Learn its language: the tension in your chest that says no, the opening in your gut that says yes, the restlessness that says something is off. Somatic awareness is the foundation of reliable intuition.
3. Keep an intuition journal. Write down your intuitive hits — the times you knew something before you could explain it. Review them. Most people discover that their intuition is far more accurate than they credited. Acknowledging this builds trust.
4. Act on small intuitions first. The way to build the muscle is to use it. Start with low-stakes decisions: which route to take, which person to reach out to, which project to prioritise. Notice the results. The more you act on intuitive guidance and observe what follows, the more confident and calibrated your intuition becomes.
5. Reduce the noise. Alcohol, social media overconsumption, chronic busyness, and unprocessed emotional content all dull intuitive perception. What you remove from your life can be as powerful as what you add.
